Prior to joining BIS, Catherine was the Team Leader of In-Patient Medical Physiotherapy at Addenbrookes, and a Senior Physiotherapist at West Suffolk Hospital, Bury St Edmunds.
Catherine qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2000 having studied at the University of Hertfordshire. Her thesis investigated the theoretical basis of the Buteyko Technique.

Service Provided
The Buteyko Technique can help with the management of Asthma symptoms as recommended in the BTS Asthma Management Guidelines1. As the aim of the Buteyko is to reduce ‘over breathing’ (hyperventilation) Buteyko can also retrain breathing patterns associated with Chronic Hyperventilation Syndrome.

Respiratory Physiotherapy can help with sputum clearance, general breathlessness management and breathing pattern re-training for those with chronic hyperventilation or breathing pattern disorders as recommended in the BTS/ACPRC guidelines2.

Catchment Area

  • North Essex and South West Suffolk
  • Cambridge City & South East Cambridgeshire

Fees

  • £40 per session.

Most clients require 4-5 sessions of Buteyko to master the technique and complete the programme. Usually these sessions are spaced approximately 1 week apart. The number of sessions of respiratory Physiotherapy varies between 2-4 sessions.
